Dog Grooming – Bathing & Brushing

Bathing and Brushing Your Pet.

Bathing is an important aspect of pet care. It helps to maintain and healthy skin and coat. Bathing helps to remove unpleasant odors, excess hair and dirt.

Bathing can be performed when the pet needs it. Try to avoid bathing more frequently than every 2 weeks as excessive bathing can remove important natural oils within the coat.

Grooming your Dog.

Whether you prefer professional groomers or to DIY, pets require a basic level of home care to keep their skin healthy.

How to bathe your dog

1. Brush first

2. Prepare your supplies such as a waterproof collar and leash, towel, treats, cotton wool, shampoo and conditioner, brush, non-slip surface

3. Make a bath using warm water – not hot

4. Soak the coat through to the skin

5. Try to minimise the amount of water that goes down the ear canal

6. Lather the shampoo, rinse and then repeat with conditioner

7. Towel-dry first and if the water is cold use a hairdryer on the cool setting (air drying is fine on a warm day)

8. Use the cotton wool to gently remove any excess moisture from the ears.
